Meet Cole

Student Therapist

My name is Cole Gentry, and I am currently a student at California Baptist University, pursuing a Master’s of Science in Counseling Psychology to become a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT). My previous educational background relates to psychology and social science, which are personal interests that motivated me to pursue the practice of counseling. Before starting my work as an MFT student in training, I worked in the field of Applied Behavioral Analysis. I primarily worked with neurodiverse children to develop the necessary skills to live a fulfilling life. With a distinct focus on behavior, this path led me to become involved in the field of counseling to grow in my skillset as a therapist, while retaining the goal of maximizing the benefits of counseling for individuals.

As an MFT trainee, I enjoy emphasizing the strengths of an individual to understand their thoughts, feelings, and behavior in greater detail. I feel this approach can provide individuals with opportunities for growth and empowerment through examining the systems that affect them. As I gain more insight through my training and education alike, I plan to utilize the knowledge gained to provide services to individuals of all walks of life.
